SCARY SCARY NIGHT?
Don't forget noise phobia medications for sensitive animals.
Pets don't understand the noise coming from the sky and street when the fireworks start. They can become terrified, destructive, and can even escape from home.
Fortunately, there is some help for panic that may be just what your pet needs.

FOR DOGS
Sileo Oral gel may be just what your dog is hoping for. This product is an oral gel that is delivered with a special applicator just inside your pet's cheek pouch (between the lip and teeth) a couple of hours before the holiday festivities/scary noises begin. It relieves fear without sedating the pet and dosing can be repeated if necessary. The applicator can be a little tricky so be sure to practice it with one of our staff members before using it at home.
For even more details see sileodogus.com or contact us in case another option is more appropriate for your dog.

GOT A SENSITIVE CAT?
We have a kit called a "cat martini" which uses an anxiety relief powder that can be mixed in a measured amount of food. A cat that has had a martini a couple of hours before the noise event should stay indoors and be kept away from staircases or heights as he/she may be a little wobbly.
The martini is safe and may or may not be sedating; it is for relief from fear.
Contact us for more information.

Keep pets indoors and safe for the holiday. The Fourth of July is the number one day for pet escape.
DID YOU KNOW...
...THAT THE IDEA THAT ONE "HUMAN YEAR" EQUALS SEVEN "DOG YEARS" IS JUST PLAIN SILLY?
The relationship between "pet years" and "human years" is not linear. (That means each "human year" is not worth the same number of "pet years" every year. The pet's first year, for example, is equal to 15 "human years," taking the pet from infancy into adolescence. The AVMA has a chart to make it easier to tell just how "old" your pet would be as a person.

As the focus of medicine transitions from treating the sick to maintaining health, well pet care has been coming to the forefront. An annual check up is easy to put off especially if your pet seems to be doing just great but there are a lot of reasons to get that wellness exam anyway.
- Your vet is likely to be able to find something that you cannot.
- Technology moves quickly so it is important to touch base on what's new in pet care since the last time you were in.
- Professional guidelines are periodically updated and consensus statements are published defining what healthy pets should and should not have done. Your vet stays up to date but if you don't go in, how will you know what's new?
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. This featured external site reviews what is involved in a wellness check up plus includes some other fun information.
