WE WILL BE OPEN REGULAR HOURS (8 am - 6 pm) ON LABOR DAY, MONDAY SEPTEMBER 5TH
DOES YOUR PET FEAR THE VET?
Or perhaps the groomer, strangers, loud noises, or other scary situations?
We have some suggestions. See below.
|
For Scaredy Cats
- Does your cat hide when the carrier first comes out?
- Is the car ride filled with piteous meowing?
- Does your cat require a muzzle, towel, or special restraint in order to be examined?
We don't want your cat to be frightened or anxious anymore than you do.
Ask our receptionist for a "cat martini" to bring home prior to the vet visit.
The "martini" is safe, easy to administer, and mildly sedating. Its effect is more through creating more of a zen mood. Examination, bathing and clipping and sample collection are easily performed. The martini kit includes a gabapentin powder capsule, flavor packet, tongue depressor, and measuring spoon. The powder is mixed in canned food and fed to the cat 2 hours prior to the appointment. Your cat should be amply relaxed and comfortable for the car ride as well for the day's procedures.

For Scaredy Dogs
- Does your dog need a muzzle during examination?
- Does your dog tremble in the vet waiting room?
- Is your dog afraid of strangers at home?
- Do loud noises initiate panic?
We want our patients to have a pleasant experience here without fear or anxiety.
We now carry Sileo® oral gel for prevention of fear/panic.
Sileo is an oral gel originally made to prevent noise phobia episodes but it can be used for other forms of panic as well. It is non-sedating and requires 30-60 minutes to work. The gel tube is good for 2 weeks after it is opened.
